A 36-year-old man was arrested at his apartment for allegedly sexually assaulting his girlfriend. The couple, returning from a Christmas Eve party, began to fall asleep when the man decided to check his girlfriend's cell phone.
Police did not go into details about what the 36-year-old man found on the phone, but he allegedly began yelling at his girlfriend and then beat her once he looked through her phone. The alleged sexual assault took place immediately after the man dragged the woman out to his balcony, when the woman was forced to have sex with the 36-year-old, according to the report.
After the alleged attack, the woman drove to a nearby fire station where she was discovered with bruising on her face and body. The man was found still at his apartment and arrested for dating violence and sexual assault.
While specifics were not readily available regarding the case, it is known that the case is considered closed and no formal charges were filed against the 36-year-old man.
One piece of this case that police did not elaborate on is the cell phone. It is possible the man was able to find incriminating evidence that his girlfriend of three months was cheating on him by searching through the phone, or that there was some sort of threatening text made against him.
This does not condone committing sexual assault by any means, a very serious charge that must be handled with expert legal representation by your side. However, something must have sparked the violent reaction the man had on Christmas Eve.
